PROPOSED WORKS
Phase 1 comprises six photographic works selected from the concepts below. Final selection will be determined during pre-production based on location availability, seasonal conditions, and production requirements.
SIMPLE PRODUCTION
The Fisher
A solitary figure in a Tramuntana valley — fishing, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Mountains, light, the overwhelming scale of the landscape. Just a person at peace in a place that allows the mind to settle. This is about what gives us calm: solitude, nature, the freedom to simply be inside something larger than ourselves.
The Shepherd
A shepherd with flock in one of Mallorca's pastoral valleys. Sheep, goats, butterflies moving through wildflowers, the overwhelming beauty of the island's interior. A just carved winged toy boat lies on the ground. The shepherd rests and plays his okarina. This is about what we need to be balanced — connection to land, to animals, to rhythm that has no urgency.
The Family at the Port
A harbour. A winged vessel arriving. People gathered in celebration — family, reunion, the relief of return. This is about arriving. About home. About the place you call yours and the people who wait there. The emotional weight of coming back.
The Library / The Workspace
A workspace or library. Someone drawing sketches of winged vessels, airgliders, balloons — prototypes scattered around, ideas in development. Books, plans, the evidence of thinking and making. This is about wisdom, growth, the desire to create. The space where imagination becomes tangible.
The Natural Disaster
A single massive dead tree in a dried-out field. Or broken trees on the Banyalbufar coast after a storm. A woman with two children, a donkey carrying everything they own. The traces of what has been lost. The necessity of continuing. What it costs to keep moving when the world has turned against you.
MEDIUM COMPLEXITY
The Windmill
A traditional Mallorcan windmill reimagined — reshaped into something more dreamlike, almost fairy-tale. Horse carts, a small winged vessel nearby, donkeys, chickens, perhaps a sheep herd passing. Multiple layers of island life converging in one frame. The mill as both heritage and imagination.
The Post
A horse-drawn post carrier arrives in an old town square. People look out from windows, others gather water or go about their business in the plaza. A message has arrived — news from elsewhere, connection maintained. The rhythm of community. The anticipation of what comes from beyond.
The Escape
Figures on horseback moving through difficult terrain. Smoke from fires visible in the landscape — signals that something has gone wrong. The urgency of departure. The cost of leaving. Whether they move toward safety or simply away from danger remains unclear.
The Crashed Vessel (alternative)
A winged vessel that did not make it. Wreckage in a landscape. What remains after flight fails. The cost made visible. The dream interrupted.
COMPLEX PRODUCTIONS
Last Ship Home
A winged vessel mounted on a single large rock. People attempting to reach it — climbing, stretching, reaching upward. Escape or refuge, the distinction unclear. Inspired by the Saigon rooftop helicopter photograph — the desperation of the final departure, the weight of survival, the vessel as the last carrier of hope.
The King
A figure on a throne built from a mountain of gold and objects — things everyone wants, nobody needs. Perhaps trash gilded gold. From below, from shadow, arms reach upward into the frame. This is about abundance versus necessity. What we accumulate versus what sustains us. Authority meeting need. Wealth confronting hunger.
The Flying Vessels / The Departure
Multiple winged vessels positioned in a Tramuntana valley overlooking the coast. Small fires visible across the landscape or down in the valley. Over 100 people in motion — old, young, families, packed horses, pulled carriers. The vessels being loaded, prepared for departure. The collective movement. The shared decision to leave or to reach.
